The Seattle Housing authority gives money to help fund such nonprofit housing developers as the Downtown Emergency Services Center, which in turn provide housing and social services to homeless people.
“There are a lot of disabled senior citizens here. I’m 63,” said Linda Bishop in an interview during the meeting. “Are they going to be begging us? Are there going to be break-ins?”
Others of the roughly 100 residents at the meeting, wondered if they’d be forced to move to make room to house more of the homeless.
The issue, he told the residents, is that it costs an average of $225,00-a-unit to build affordable housing for the homeless. So to get more people off the streets under the city’s and King County’s 10-year plans to end homelessness, “We’ve got to make use of existing housing.”

SAHA was recognized by the National Association of Housing Redevelopment Officials during its summer conference in Nashville, Tenn. The authority garnered Awards of Merit for Housing and C.. Tell Me More..
